Three chambers of commerce have filed a writ petition challenging the abolition of the Simplified Value Added Tax (SVAT) system, which came into effect today (1), and the failure to introduce a systematic automatic VAT refund mechanism.
The Free Trade Zone Manufacturers Association, the Sri Lanka National Chamber of Commerce, and the Small and Medium Scale Industrialists Chamber of Commerce filed the petition before the Court of Appeal.
