State Minister of Finance Mr. Shehan Semasinghe states that it is very difficult to manage money for essential expenses at the moment.
He also claims that the Treasury does not have the ability to spend money on any other extraneous activities apart from those essential activities.
He also mentioned that if the money is spent on the election or any other expenses, the government employees’ salaries, pensions, welfare and other subsidies will also have to be delayed.
He further said that till now, the cost burden of the national treasury is twice as much as the income received by the country.
