Minister of Power and Energy Mr. Kanchana Wijesekera said that the support of the security forces will be taken to carry out the fuel distribution activities as usual.

In a tweet, the minister further requested the people not to panic over a shortage of fuel.

The fuel supply has been disrupted due to a strike started by the employees of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and its Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminal, but it has now returned to normal.

Also, the minister added that there are enough fuel reserves in the country.

In the meantime, we have been informed that some rush has been seen near fuel stations in various parts of the island.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Media Unit also issued a statement saying that there is no shortage of fuel in the country.

Due to this, the President’s Media Unit further requests the people not to gather in queues near fuel stations unnecessarily to get fuel.
