The President mentioned that it cannot be done as the election period is approaching this year.
The President said this while attending the empowerment ceremony of Uva Provincial Community Police Committee members today (06) in Wellawa.
The President, who commented there, mentioned that salaries can be increased through next year’s budget.
Meanwhile, under the chairmanship of President Ranil Wickramasinghe, the first session of empowering the Community Police Committees in Uva Province was also started.
The event was held at Wellawaya Public Stadium.
