Member of Parliament Professor G.L Peris said that the Speaker signed the Online Security Act in violation of the supreme law of the country and the common opposition is working to bring a motion of no confidence against it. Mr. G.L. Peiris said today (5). Sri Lanka Latest News

Professor G. L. Peiris said so at a press conference held in Colombo today (5).

G.L. further said that the current government has blatantly violated human rights and is moving towards a police state and dictatorial rule.  Mr Peiris further mentioned that the Road Safety Act is not an Act passed according to the Constitution of Sri Lanka.

Mr. Peiris said that he condemned the water and tear gas attack by the government against the peaceful protest organized by the Samagi Jana Balawegayaya and mentioned that such water and tear gas attacks have never been done to an opposition leader in history.

The speaker kicked the opinions of the opposition and passed this road safety bill and said that it is a death blow to the parliamentary tradition and the country will have to enjoy the negative consequences of that bill both nationally and internationally.
