The Vavuniya High Court has recently ordered to adjourn the hearing of three habeas corpus petitions filed by their relatives to trace the persons who surrendered to the army in the last days of the war until the 11th of May.

Senior lawyer S. Ratnavel, who appeared for the petitioner wives, stated that when the case was heard on February 23, the Vavuniya High Court had ordered the army to present the missing persons mentioned by the petitioners to the court on March 22 or if it is not possible to do so, to state the reasons. that

But when the hearing was called recently, the Vavuniya High Court adjourned the relevant habeas corpus hearing until May 11th.

Anandi Sashidaran mentioned that the relevant order given by the court in the last session to present the missing persons to the court or if it is not possible to do so inform the courts, is a victory for the relatives of the missing persons in the North East.

Anandi Sashidharan’s husband, Sinnathurai Sashidharan alias Elilan, was the leader of the LTTE’s Vavuniya and Trincomalee districts during the war.

Relatives of the missing said that more than 20,000 people were missing in the northern and eastern provinces during the war.
