Unnecessary use of force is substandard, injurious  to the  image of the country ! A pressing announcement from the Bar Association President!

After security forces used force to get people out of the Gotagogama site, the Sri Lanka Bar Association also made a statement.

It states that unnecessary use of force will not be good for this country or its international image.

The message issued by Mr. Saliya Peiris, president of the association, reads as follows:

Several lawyers have informed me about an attack on protesters at the Galle face near the presidential secretariat. Although the details are sketchy, I also learned that several people, including lawyer Nuwan Bopage, have been arrested.

It was also reported that people had been attacked. The authorities must ensure the safety of everyone and know their whereabouts. I tried to contact the Inspector General of Police and also sent a message to the Army Commander. unnecessary use of force will not be good for this country or its international image.
