The United Nations Human Rights Council’s 53rd session is set to begin tomorrow; no progress in Sri Lanka! The High Commissioner’s Special Statement I Sri Lanka Latest News

The 53rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council is scheduled to begin tomorrow (Monday) in Geneva. Sri Lanka Latest News

The session starting tomorrow will continue till July 14.

According to diplomatic sources, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, who is expected to make a verbal statement on Sri Lanka, will reportedly express displeasure at the lack of progress on Sri Lanka’s accountability issues.

Also, during this session, the countries representing the core group will issue a formal CORE GROUP statement in which they will express concern over the arbitrary arrests of people involved in last year’s protests and the alleged lack of progress in accountability for crimes and economic crimes committed at the end of the war. Sources say.
