The Speaker requested a special report on the incident involving Member of Parliament Ali Sabri Rahim  I Sri Lanka Latest News

The Speaker has called for a special report regarding the incident of Member of Parliament Ali Sabri Rahim, who was convicted for illegally bringing gold and mobile phones.
Speaker Mr. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said that he informed the Director General of Customs to provide a full report regarding the relevant incident.

Recently, party leaders have presented their views in the Parliamentary Affairs Committee regarding bringing a proposal to abolish the position of Member of Parliament of Ali Sabri Rahim.

The speaker mentioned that in such a situation, this report has been called for taking further action regarding the member concerned.

Ali Sabri Rahim, Member of Parliament of Puttalam District, was arrested on the 23rd when he arrived at the Katunayake Airport from Dubai with a stock of gold worth seven and a half crores and a mobile phone illegally.
