The parliamentary debate on the VAT amendment bill related to raising the VAT to 18% is scheduled to be held today. Sri Lanka Latest News
It is reported that the debate will be held today from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.
Cabinet approval has been received to increase VAT from 15% to 18% from January 1st.
However, the opposition has already expressed its objection regarding the imposition of VAT on books and magazines, nutritional food for children, prosthetic legs for the disabled and Suvasarya ambulance service.
