After more than three months, the Presidential Secretariat will be fully operational as of tomorrow, according to a senior official.
Cleaning and repairs were being made to doors and windows damaged during the protesters’ occupation of parts of the building.
Meanwhile, a specialized squad of crime scene and fingerprint officers has been formed under the supervision of the SSP Colombo Central to collect evidence of any crimes committed on the premises of the Presidential Secretariat, according to Police spokesman Nihal Thalduwa yesterday.
On July 9, protesters stormed the Presidential Secretariat.
“The Fort Police Station is conducting additional inquiries,” SSP Thalduwa said, adding that forensic evidence will be collected in the Presidential Secretariat by Scene-of-Crime Officers (SOCO) and special fingerprint investigation officers.
