The Pohottuwa suffered its first-ever defeat in Akurasa! Together with Sajaba-led opposition, eight ruling party members vote against the budget.

The Pohottuwa controlled Akurassa pradeshiya Saba budget has been defeated.

There are 14 members of Akuressa Pradeshiya Saba which consists of 25 members.

Six represent the Samagi Jana Balawega, three represent the Janata Vimukthi Peramuna and two represent the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.

However, in yesterday’s budget voting, eight of the fourteen members of Pohottuwa together with the opposition voted against the budget.

Accordingly, only five votes were received in favor of the budget, while 19 votes were received against it.
