Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said that Parliament will be adjourned until 9:30 am tomorrow.

The MPs of Samagi Janbalawegaya who protested for the election also came and protested near the Speaker’s seat and then the Speaker announced that the Parliament will be adjourned till tomorrow.

Since the Parliament met at 9.30 this morning, the opposition MPs made various statements demanding elections.

Standing before the Parliament, the chief organizer of the opposition, Lakshman Kiriella, said that steps should be taken to call a meeting of the party leaders to discuss the postponement of the election.

Responding to that, the speaker mentioned that he will take steps to call a meeting of party leaders today at 2 pm.

However, after that all the political parties of the opposition got up from their seats and raised the protest placards and came to the middle of the chamber and protested.

The Speaker then announced that the Parliament would be adjourned until 9.30 tomorrow morning to control the situation.
