The number of people leaving the country has increased! Two and a half lakh people have gone abroad to work in the last ten months!

According to a report issued by the Central Bank, 251,151 people have gone abroad for work during the period of January-October 2022.

The central bank says that this is an increase in the number of people who went abroad for work annually before the epidemic started.

Meanwhile, it is reported that 28,473 people have gone abroad for work in the month of October 2022. Of these, 11,399 are unskilled workers, 7,887 skilled workers and 6,165 for domestic services.

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka says that the amount of foreign remittances reported in the month of October 2022 is 355 million dollars.

The total amount of foreign remittance received during January-October 2022 is 2,929 million dollars. For the relevant period in the year 2021, this value was reported as 4,895 million dollars.
