There, the Police Media Spokesperson, Senior Superintendent of Police Advocate Mr. Nihal Talduwa said,
“Videos of assaulting women and sexually harassing them have been posted on social media. The referred person has made a serious mistake. He commits a punishable offence. That is why investigations are being conducted in that regard.”
He said this while explaining about the incident that occurred in a temple located in Upper Bomiriya area of Navagamau police domain.
Police Media Spokesperson, Senior Superintendent of Police Advocate Mr. Nihal Talduwa further stated,
“The law in this regard is mentioned on the basis of Article 365 d 1 of the Penal Code. If any person does this kind of propaganda, there is a possibility of punishment up to 2 years with or without hard labor. There is also the possibility of imposing a fine. But it has to be proven in a trial.”
“Publicizing matters concerning women and children, especially those prohibited by law.”
“When a person socializes these through social media networks, he is definitely doing a serious mistake.”
“In this Navagamuwa incident as well, we will identify that person and implement the law against him.”
