Further, the leader of the opposition asked the Japanese foreign minister to provide the Japanese technology needed to develop the fishing industry, which currently contributes only to a small amount of 1.4% of the country’s gross national product. The Leader of the Opposition pointed out his vision and need to properly contribute to the country’s economy with the marine resources spread around the island over an area of 200 nautical miles located in the EEZ Special Economic Zone.

Also, since the information technology (IT) revolution is limited to the city only, Mr. Sajith Premadasa pointed out that the children of the village still do not have the inheritance of that technology, and asked the Japanese foreign minister to help provide the necessary technical facilities to the talented people of the village to advance in the world of technology.
