The Inspector General of Police C.D. Wickramaratne asked the Criminal Investigation Department to take over the investigation related to the death of the Kalutara schoolgirl, which has caused great controversy in the society. He has informed the Head of Criminal Investigation Department, DIG Prasad Ranasinghe about this in writing.
The police headquarters disclosed that the reason for this is that there is a need to carry out extensive and transparent investigations related to this death. It is stated that the Inspector General of Police has directed the attention of the Criminal Investigation Department to investigate several aspects related to this death that have not been investigated so far.
