Police say that the mother, daughter and son burned to death due to a sudden fire in a house in Mahamankadawala, Vevapara area this morning.
Thus, three persons have died namely mother Nishanthi Hemalatha (30) residing at Vevapara, Mahamankadawala, Alayapatthu and her daughter Jayaratne’s Hansaka Prabodani (10) and her son Jayaratne’s grandson Navod Jayaratne (05).
Samantha (37), the owner of the house and the father of the dead children, received serious burn injuries and was admitted to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.
After the fire broke out, the neighbours extinguished the fire in a short time, but the mother, her daughter and son, who were sleeping in the room, died on the spot due to burn injuries. The injured father was taken to the hospital.
The police said that during the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that this house had been supplied with electricity from another house, and there was a bottle of petrol in that room.
