Homagama High Court Judge Mr Nimal Ranaweera has issued an order today (21) to return the vehicles said to belong to Welivita Sudda to the Illegal Assets Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department. Sri Lanka Latest News

Those are the vehicles worth about 10 crore rupees which were ordered to be returned to the owners by the Kaduwela Magistrate Court.

These were seized by the Illegal Assets Division of the Criminal Investigation Department under Operation Justice.

Kaduwela Magistrate Mrs. Chanima Wijebandara had ordered on the 16th last that the vehicle worth about 10 crores, which has been detained for almost 02 months, should be returned to its registered owner.

Based on that order, the registered owners of the vehicles have been rescued and taken away.

Accordingly, the Illegal Assets Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department submitted the matter to the Homagama High Court today and informed that the persons who claim to be the registered owners of the vehicle, H.M.Heenmenika had failed to produce legal ownership to the vehicles.

Evidence was also received that these vehicles were purchased with illegally earned money.

Accordingly, the High Court ordered that the vehicles in question, which were taken on the orders of the Kaduwela Magistrate Court, be returned to the Illegal Assets Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department.

In December 2023, the Kaduwela Police claimed that it belonged to a resident of Kaduwela, Malalage Sudath Kitsiri or “Welivita Sudda”, one of his sisters, H.M. 05 luxury buses, a modern car and a motorcycle belonging to Heenmanike were seized and handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department’s Illegal Assets Investigation Division.
