The government’s debt limit will be increased by another 9000 billion! Sri Lanka Latest News

Ms. Kushani Rohanadeera, Secretary General of the Parliament, said that the Parliamentary Affairs Committee decided to hold the second reading debate on the Appropriation (Amendment) Bill related to increasing the government’s borrowing limit by 9000 billion rupees today (09).

Thus the borrowing limit will increase from Rs 497900 crore to Rs 13979 crore.

This decision was taken at the Parliamentary Affairs Committee meeting held yesterday (08) chaired by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

Also, the second reading of the Betting and Gambling Tax (Amendment) Bill and the debate on the orders under the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Act will also be held today (9), as decided in the Parliamentary Affairs Committee meeting held on July 21.

Accordingly, the debate will be held today (09) in the morning. 10.30 a.m. to p.m. The general secretary mentioned that it will be held till 5:00.
