A review of the situation in Sri Lanka will be conducted next Wednesday and Thursday at the United Nations Human Rights Committee regarding the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that human rights violations, anti-terrorist measures, independence of the judiciary etc. will be discussed there.

The Sri Lankan side is going to participate in the discussion under the leadership of Mrs. Himali Karunathilaka, Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in Geneva.

The 52nd regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council is currently being held in Geneva.

Sri Lanka has reiterated before the Human Rights Council that it will not accept Resolution 51/1 passed in the last session regarding Sri Lanka.

Mrs. Himali Karunathilaka, the Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in Geneva, has stated that the program adopted without the approval of Sri Lanka will not bring any good to her country.
