Postal ballot marks will be issued tomorrow to staff working in District Secretariat Offices, Election Commission Offices, Senior and DIG Offices, Superintendent of Police and Assistant Superintendent of Police Offices, Police Stations, Special Task Force Camps, Special Police Units and Elite Security Division. The Election Commission stated that they will have the opportunity to do so.
In addition to tomorrow, an opportunity has been given to mark postal votes on the 6th in the respective places.
The opportunity to mark postal ballots for the staff in tri-army bases and all other government institutions will be available on the 05th and 06th of September.
Postal voters who are unable to mark their postal votes on the respective dates have been allowed to mark their postal votes on the 11th and 12th of September at the district election offices in the district where their place of work is located.
712,319 postal voters are eligible for this year’s presidential election and the highest number of postal voters is 76,977 from Kurunegala district.
Meanwhile, the postal department says that the distribution of official ballot papers related to the presidential election will start from today (03).
Deputy Postmaster General Mr. Rajitha Ranasinghe stated that the distribution of official election notices will be done until September 14th.
Meanwhile, Police Media Spokesman DIG Nihal Talduwa stated that since it is illegal to display stickers and posters related to the presidential election on vehicles, the police have been instructed to remove them.
