The European Union asked the Sri Lankan government to suspend the Prevention of Terrorism Act until a new law that complies with international human rights laws is prepared.

The United Nations Human Rights Council, which met today, submitted a special report on Sri Lanka in its 51st session, and the European Union representatives expressed their thanks to the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
