The Election Commission has decided to inform the Supreme Court about the current situation regarding the holding of the election.

Mr. Nimal G. Punchiheva, Chairman of the Election Commission, said that in the next few days, he will inform the Supreme Court about the obstacles to the conduct of the elections, including the failure of the Ministry of Finance to provide the necessary funds for the elections.

Also, Nimal G. Punchihewa said that the relevant motion will inform about the delay of the printing works by the printing press, not providing enough fuel by the petroleum corporation, and the police not providing security to the printing press, he further mentioned.

He also mentioned that the Election Commission had given a pledge to the Supreme Court that it would conduct the election but its commission should explain the fact that it was unable to perform the task.
