The Department of Probation and Child Protection has decided to establish windows at the provincial level to hand over children under 3 months who cannot be adopted.
The department stated that this urgent decision was reached by paying attention to the cases of children being subjected to various harassments, killings and abandonment in roads.

Since 2017, 80 children have been killed and another 60 will be reported as abandoned on the highway.

The department stated that according to the existing law, legal action can be taken against parents who abandon their children.

The Department of Probation and Child Protection also said that no legal action will be taken against parents who hand over their children to child pick-up windows as per the new amendments.

The amendments brought to the Penal Code for that purpose are to be submitted to the Parliament through the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs and the Ministry of Judiciary.
