A video has surfaced on social media where The Cure’s Robert Smith predicted the date of the Queen’s passing in an interview in 2012.

Following the news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, a video has emerged on social media that shows how Robert Smith, the frontman of English rock band The Cure, almost predicted the date of her passing a decade ago.

Smith was interviewed at the Hurricane Festival in Germany in 2012 where he talked about the royal family. Towards the end of the discussion, as the interviewer talks about the Queen’s popularity, Smith said, “The Queen’s gonna die on September 7, and there’ll be a huge uprising, and I’ll be made king.”

Smith’s joke did not come true for another ten years and a day, but netizens have shared the clip on social media with many claiming it “feels prophetic.”

A video of the clip shared on TikTok has now more than 1.3m views, 243,000 likes and thousands of comments from people who were stunned by Smith’s prediction.
