Specialist Dr. Ashoka Gunaratne says that there was only one specialist in the country to deal with the radiology of small children, and he has left the country now. Sri Lanka Latest News

While attending a press conference, he mentioned that it is estimated that the country needs about four thousand specialist doctors for the year 2024-2025, but currently only half of them are in the country.

Dr. Ashoka Gunaratne says that if the retirement age of doctors is reduced to sixty years, there will be a decrease of about two hundred and fifty of those specialists, and if that happens, the number of specialists in the country will decrease to 1,750.

The doctor says that 30 specialist doctors have been trained and recruited for emergency units, and 20 of those 30 have already left the country.

Dr. Ashoka Gunaratne further stated that the country needs 289 anesthesiologists for the year 2024-2025, but currently there are only 155 anesthesiologists in the country.
