Colombo Additional Magistrate Mrs. Rajindra Jayasuriya ordered the Criminal Investigation Department yesterday (15) to submit the mobile phone and SIM card of Mr. Dinesh Shafter, who was a director of Janashakti Group, to the court within a week.

The Magistrate ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to submit the mobile phone and SIM card to the Government Inspector’s Office for investigation, and if the investigation is completed, it should be submitted to the court immediately through a motion.

Earlier on the day of the trial, the Criminal Investigation Department expressed its opposition to the request made by his wife to maintain the phone number used by the deceased as the cause of death has not yet been revealed.

The Criminal Investigation Department stated that social media data reports and phone records related to the death were recorded on this phone, and the phone has now been handed over to the coroner for analytical reports. The Criminal Investigation Department will further investigate whether the data may have been destroyed and file a report to the court in the future. And said.

The court called for this report through the Computer Division of the Criminal Investigation Department regarding whether the evidence related to the incident could be destroyed by allowing the deceased’s wife to use the phone number.

President’s counsel Mr. Anuja Premaratne had made a request to the court on the last 6 days to allow the wife to keep the phone number of the deceased.

The second post-mortem examination of the deceased is being conducted at the Galle Karapitiya Hospital, and it was revealed in the court that the parts taken from the body have been forwarded to the government taster.
