The ‘Protest Rally Against Repression’ organized by the Inter-University Student Union, Union of Trade Unions and Mass Organizations and the Trade Union Coordinating Center started a few moments ago at Hyde Square in Colombo.
Heavy security has been deployed by the police around Hyde Pitiya, where the rally will be held, and water cannons and police anti-riot units have been deployed around it.
University students, trade union representatives are participating in this event.
