The air force will be reduced from 35,000 to 18,000 by giving priority to technology, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa says. Sri Lanka Latest News

He mentioned this in a news conference held yesterday (10) at the Air Force Headquarters.

The Air Force Commander who further commented,

“If today’s mobile phone is Rs 100,000, it will be Rs 50,000 in 6 months. In the same way, this technology is becoming less and less. We need to use technology that we all can afford. CCTV is not a new thing. AI technology is not new. We can use existing technology to reduce the number of troops. For example, one of our air bases is probably many kilometres. If it is like 10 kilometres, how many troops should we stop?

For that we can use things like cameras, information technology and drone technology. In the past, one soldier is looking ahead at a certain limit. But we can use a drone to take care of about 5 kilometres at a time. We are looking to reduce our troop size using very simple technology. And we are advancing in technology. We hope that the operational literacy we gave in those days with an army of 35,000.
