The Secretary of the Ministry of Finance has given a pledge to the Supreme Court that he will not sell the government owned shares of the Sri Lanka Telecom Company until the 15th of June.
This notice was given when a petition submitted by two telecom trade union activists was called against the transfer of shares in the telecom company.
The Deputy Solicitor General who represented the Secretary in the Ministry of Finance informed the court that the process of transferring these shares is completely legal.
However, he promised the court that he will not transfer the relevant shares until the next June 15, when this case will be called.
