The police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse a group of Kelaniya University students who were protesting by blocking the Kandy-Colombo road.
The police said that 6 people including four monks were arrested there.
A protest was held demanding the immediate release of arrested convener Calum Mudannayake and student activist Dilshan Harshana.
