Sujatha Manabharana, a well-known psychologist, has been found mysteriously murdered in a lodge in Thalangama area. It is said that she had come to the lodge on the 26th with another male person and stayed there for many days. The male person who came with her to the lodge went out of the lodge yesterday (03rd) and came back again at night and went out again but no one observed it. (Sri Lanka Latest News)
Since the woman was not seen since afternoon, when the workers of the lodge broke the door of the room, they found the woman dead in a pool of blood on the bed of the room. Accordingly, the police have been informed and investigations have started.
During the police investigation, it has been observed that her throat was cut. The police suspect that she may have killed the man who was with her and fled.
While going to find out who the deceased person is, the police faced a dilemma and when they arrived at the lodge, the woman said that she did not have her identity card, and she gave an identity card number written on a piece of paper to the cashier, but the year of birth 1977 was given to the cashier, but the police said that it was fake.
It is understood that the age of the woman who was killed is more than that, and the police say that during the inspection of an address in her travel bag, it was revealed that the number belonged to a lodge in Haputale area.
The police also found news reports in the room of the lodge where she was staying, stating that she had provided counseling services to the army and the police, which can be thought to belong to the murdered woman, and based on that information, the murdered woman has been identified as Sujatha Munasinghe Manabharana, aged 53.
Psychologist Sujatha Munasinghe Manabarana conducted psychological counseling training camps with the soldiers who fought in the last battle against the LTTE.
Ms. Manabarana is part of a team of professional counselors and psychologists who have worked for years to help troops deal with war-related stress and other psychological problems.
It was also reported that since 2003, she has been trained in military psychology and has been counseling members of the armed forces and the police.
After it was revealed during the police investigations that the murdered woman had come to the lodge with another man on the 26th, the police have started investigations to find the man.
The police say that the CCTV cameras of the lodge have been out of action for some time.
