The All Ceylon Egg Producers Association says that it has been decided to sell local eggs by kilos in future.

Mr. Sarath Ratnayake, the chairman of that association, said that it has been decided to sell eggs at a price of 80 cents per gram.

Accordingly, he added that the sale of local eggs by the number of kilos will be started today (04) first in the central province.

“We have made a decision to sell eggs by the kilo from tomorrow. If Indians can buy eggs, we will give them to bakery owners at 85 cents per gram and from tomorrow we will give them at 80 cents per gram. Customers have no problem. If we need 10 Indian eggs for a cake, we need to add 6 or 7 eggs. We will start this from the Central Province. These eggs are sold at 80 cents.
