SriLankan Airlines has garnered widespread acclaim for its captivating new advertisement promoting the “Ramayana Trail,” a journey through Sri Lanka’s legendary sites associated with the ancient Hindu epic, the Ramayana. The ad features a heartfelt story of a grandmother recounting the tale of the Ramayana to her inquisitive grandson, leading viewers through real-life locations like Ravana’s Cave, the Seetha Amman Temple, and the famed Ram Setu bridge. With a seamless blend of rich storytelling and breathtaking visuals, the ad celebrates Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage while positioning the country as a premier destination for spiritual tourism, inviting travelers to experience its historical and mythical landmarks. The video has quickly gained popularity online, resonating with audiences through its compelling narrative and deep cultural insights.

The five-minute ad begins with a tender moment between a grandmother and her young grandson as she reads him the Ramayana from a children’s book. Eager to learn more, the grandson asks where Ravana, the demon king, took Sita after her abduction. In response, the grandmother transports both him and the audience into the heart of the epic, narrating scenes set in the island of Lanka, now known as Sri Lanka.
