“With our efforts to promote Sri Lanka, we are creating many features. Accordingly, Colombo Fashion Week, which is one of the top 20 fashion shows, is going to be held as a special event in Sigiriya,” he said.
Describing this as a unique opportunity to showcase Sigiriya to the world, Minister Harin Fernando pointed out the importance of utilizing various attractions in Sri Lanka to promote tourism.
Minister Harin Fernando says that by holding an event like Colombo Fashion Week in front of the stunning backdrop of Sigiriya, the Sri Lankan tourism industry hopes to capture the imagination of visitors and highlight the unique experiences of Sri Lanka.
Emphasizing the success of similar programs in other countries, Minister Harin Fernando also expressed confidence in the possibility of Sigiriya becoming a globally recognized tourist destination.
Sigiriya is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Sri Lanka and the site consists of the ruins of an ancient fort built on a prominent rock pillar in the late fifth century AD.
It was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982.
The special show in Sigiriya is expected to attract the attention of international fashion lovers, influencers and tourists, and further enhance Sri Lanka’s reputation as a vibrant and culturally rich destination.
