Sri Lanka’s passport has fallen to 98th place in the latest Henley Passport Index 2025, granting visa-free access to only 41 destinations worldwide while requiring visas for 185 others.

In September, Sri Lanka dropped six spots despite an earlier leap in July, when it rose from 96th to 91st place.

The Henley Passport Index ranks countries based on the number of destinations their passport holders can enter without a prior visa.

At the top of the list, Singapore remains No.1 with access to 193 destinations, followed by South Korea (190) and Japan (189).

For the first time in 20 years, the U.S. passport slipped out of the top 10, ranking 12th alongside Malaysia. Meanwhile, Russia dropped from 46th to 50th, behind Venezuela and Moldova.

At the bottom, Afghanistan stays last with access to only 24 countries, followed by Syria (26) and Iraq (29).

Among regional peers, India fell five spots to 85th, while Pakistan ranked 103rd (31 visa-free destinations), Bangladesh 100th (38), Nepal 101st (36), and Bhutan 92nd (50).
