IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva expects Japan, India, and China to help solve Sri Lanka’s economic crisis. She mentioned this in a Centre for Global Development (CGD) interview about Sri Lanka’s debt problem.
Sri Lanka has three major creditors. Japan, India, and China. We expect their participation soon. Then consider other parameters. Private sector included IMF Managing Director said.
We often don’t view this situation as urgent. We’re prepared. First, provide the loan details. We need to solve the whole problem, not just a piece of it. Equal treatment of creditors is required. Third, all creditors need an organisational plan. Fourth, these countries need political will. She advises treating creditors, us, and other groups equally.
