The Chief Executive Officer of the International Cricket Council, Jeff Alladyce, has sent a letter to Sri Lanka Cricket President Shammi Silva. Sri Lanka Latest News

The article states that if Sri Lanka is to host the 2024 International Cricket Council Conference and several international tournaments to be held in the future, the independence of the Sri Lanka Cricket Institute should be confirmed.

Sri Lanka has been given the primary hosting of the Under-19 Men’s World Cup in 2024, the Men’s Twenty20 World Cup in 2026 and the Women’s Twenty20 World Cup in 2027.

In order to hold those tournaments in Sri Lanka, it is stated in the letter sent by the International Cricket Council that it should be confirmed that the elected Sri Lanka Cricket Association will receive support free of influence from the government.

The International Cricket Council informed the Sri Lanka Cricket Board in a letter last August that such effects may occur due to certain actions of the Sports Minister.

It is also stated in the relevant letter that further action will be taken based on the certificate received from the Sri Lanka Cricket Board.
