Sri Lanka has been selected as one of 20 countries globally to host the World Bank’s integrated South Asia office, which will open on July 25, 2025, according to World Bank Group President Ajay Banga.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake was briefed on this development during a virtual meeting with Banga on Wednesday (27).
This initiative aligns with Banga’s vision to establish 20 integrated country offices to enhance coordination among the four core World Bank Group institutions: the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the International Development Association (IDA), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), as outlined in a statement from the President’s Media Division (PMD).
