Sri Lanka Ranked World’s Best Wellness Tourism Destination for 2026
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Sri Lanka has been named the world’s best wellness tourism destination for 2026, according to the Book Retreats International report.

Australia ranked second, while Morocco secured third place in the ranking. England and Spain were placed fourth and fifth respectively. Nepal, Thailand, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Canada also featured among the leading wellness tourism destinations.

One of the main factors behind Sri Lanka’s achievement is the growing global recognition of the country’s respected Ayurvedic traditions and heritage, which continue to attract increasing numbers of tourists from around the world. The island’s unique natural attractions and breathtaking landscapes have also played a significant role in strengthening its appeal as a wellness destination.

Additionally, the affordability of wellness programs, competitive pricing, and visa facilitation measures have contributed to attracting more international visitors. The report also highlights a remarkable 100 percent year-on-year increase in interest in Sri Lanka’s wellness tourism sector as another key factor behind the country’s top ranking.

According to the report, the global wellness tourism industry is expected to grow to US$1.4 trillion by 2027.
