The Sri Lanka Police website has released an official statement regarding a recent visit by an Israeli government representative to meet with Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasuriya.

The statement reads as follows:

“In light of the current global security environment, and following the heightened security concerns in the Arugam Bay tourist area as of 2024-10-23, the Sri Lanka Police initiated a special security program for Israeli nationals, primarily foreign tourists visiting the country. These security measures are actively being maintained.

As an expression of appreciation for the ongoing exchange of intelligence and collaboration with Israeli security and foreign affairs agencies, Counselor Roi Vaknin, Regional Security Officer and representative of the State of Israel, visited Police Headquarters yesterday (05) to meet with Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasuriya to discuss additional security measures and future plans.”
