State Minister Indika Anurudda has been assigned to Gampaha District after Prasanna Ranatunga chose to support the President.
Parliamentarian Nipuna Ranawaka is appointed to Matara District after Minister Kanchana Wijesekara chose to support President Ranil. Due to SM Chandrasens’ decision to support Ranil Wickramasinghe, MP Namal Rajapakse has been given Anuradhapura District.
Meanwhile, former President Mahinda Rajapakse has confirmed his candidature for President as a separate candidate from Pohottuwa. He stated that the party’s position had already been communicated to the President during their meeting last night at Mr Mahinda Rajapakse’s Wijerama residence.
President Ranil Wickramasingha has met Mr Rajapaksa seeking Pohottuwa support for his candidature.it is reported this meeting has lasted over one hour.
In the meantime participating in a discussion at Carlton residence in Tangall MP Namal Rajapakse stated that he has no dealings with the leader of the opposition.
