Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Power and Energy has announced plans to issue a tender for the construction of a new wind farm in Mannar.
This follows the successful completion of a 100-megawatt wind farm in the same region.
According to a senior official from the Ministry of Power and Energy, the new wind farm is expected to generate 50 megawatts, significantly contributing to the country’s renewable energy portfolio.
In addition to the wind farm, the Ministry has issued a tender for the construction of 165 megawatts of solar power plants.
The Ceylon Electricity Board said it will purchase the electricity generated by these new projects. The purchase price will be determined by the selected companies or individuals who secure the tenders.
