Deputy Minister Anil Jayantha informed Parliament that discussions have commenced with the United States regarding President Donald Trump’s trade policy, which is set to take effect in April.
Addressing the matter, he emphasized the importance of the U.S. focusing on tariff-related concerns.
“Sri Lanka has already taken proactive measures to mitigate the potential negative impacts of Trump’s trade policy. The Sri Lankan Ambassador in Washington has initiated discussions with American authorities to address these concerns. Given the strong bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and the United States, we are optimistic about fostering a successful partnership,” the Deputy Minister affirmed.
