The Sri Lanka–India Parliamentary Friendship Association (SLIPFA), in collaboration with the High Commission of India in Colombo and Factum as its knowledge partner, hosted its inaugural roundtable discussion at the Parliament of Sri Lanka on Thursday (February 5). The dialogue was held under the theme “Future-Ready Indo-Lanka Partnership: A Dialogue for a Shared Tomorrow.”
The roundtable was presided over by SLIPFA President, Hon. (Dr.) Nalinda Jayatissa, Minister of Health and Mass Media, together with Acting High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Dr. Satyanjal Pandey. SLIPFA Secretary Hon. (Dr.) Kavinda Jayawardhana also took part, along with office bearers including Vice Presidents Hon. G.G. Ponnambalam and Hon. Ravi Karunanayake; Assistant Secretaries Hon. Sivagnanam Shritharan and Hon. (Mrs.) Anushka Thilakarathne; and Treasurer Hon. Sundaralingam Pradeep, Deputy Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure.
This first-of-its-kind parliamentary initiative featured two focused sessions, with the first dedicated to Energy Cooperation and the second to Maritime Cooperation. Both sessions included expert presentations offering perspectives from Sri Lanka and India.
With nearly 50 Members of Parliament from across party lines participating, the roundtable aimed to foster constructive dialogue and explore innovative avenues for mutually beneficial cooperation, strengthening the evolving India–Sri Lanka partnership across key strategic sectors.
