About 61,000 acres of paddy fields which had been cultivated in the ‘Maha’ season this year have been damaged due to heavy rains and floods throughout the island. (Sri Lanka Latest News)
The Ministry of Agriculture and Plantation Industries said that the Agriculture and Agrarian Insurance Board has been instructed to immediately start the damage assessment of the damaged paddies.
Just like the assessment of crop damage caused by drought last spring season, the Agriculture and Agrarian Insurance Board is going to use drone technology to assess the damage caused by floods.
