Sri Lanka has earned US$3.2 billion from tourism in 2025, according to Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath.

Marking a significant turning point for the country’s tourism industry, Sri Lanka has recorded the highest number of foreign tourist arrivals in a single year.

The milestone was reached with the arrival of the 2,333,797th tourist, who landed at Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake, on the morning of the 29th.

This achievement surpasses the previous record set in 2018, which had been regarded as the year with the highest number of tourist arrivals.

In 2018, Sri Lanka recorded 2,333,796 tourist arrivals, one less than the figure achieved this year.
