The Governments of Sri Lanka and Antigua and Barbuda formally established diplomatic relations on 03 October 2025, following the signing of an agreement by Mr. Mahinda Samarasinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the United States of America, and Sir Ronald Sanders, Ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda to the United States of America, at a ceremony held in Washington, D.C.
The establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations is expected to further strengthen the existing ties of friendship and foster cooperation in the political, socio-economic, and cultural spheres, aimed at achieving mutual benefits for both countries.
