A Public denial specialist doctors demands

The Association of Medical Specialists, which has taken steps to completely condemn the Galle face attack, has requested the President to publicly deny it if the President has nothing to do with it.
Here is a press release issued by the Association of Medical Specialists.

The brutal attack on peaceful protesters and its aftermath

As a group of law-abiding professionals, the Association of Medical Specialists strongly condemns the attack on unarmed peaceful protesters in Galle on Thursday night. All hopes and expectations of the new political culture outlined by President Ranil Wickremesinghe have been dashed by this barbaric act.

At this critical juncture, we expected the administration led by Mr. Wickramasinghe to focus on alleviating the immense and historic suffering of the nation through compromise rather than brutally using the state security apparatus to suppress the democratic rights of protesters.
Attacking the protesters hours before they had made it clear that they were leaving the premises would appear to any reasonable person to be vindictive and unnecessary.

We request President Wickremesinghe and his government to publicly deny that they have anything to do with this act and to immediately investigate this barbaric act and bring all the culprits to justice.

We emphasize again that Mr. Wickramasinghe and those responsible must take it into serious consideration in order to prevent the recurrence of such barbaric acts. We hope that our leaders will take every possible step to ensure peace in the country, especially at a time when we are looking for national and international support to overcome this serious economic crisis.
